It isn’t often that I buy new cutters because I already have so many, and even if I don’t have something, a template will cover the issue if necessary.
Today, however, I received a call for what will be an ongoing order, and I knew that for one of the shapes, I would need to purchase a cutter, specifically a long-sleeved shirt cutter, which I did. Having an actual cutter makes the work go so much faster than working with a template. So I took the leap and ordered the cutter, and it should be here within a few days. More on the specifics of this job later…
I don’t know why it is, but I seem to always struggle with having the perfect balance of three essential items in my kitchen: coffee, hazelnut creamer, and Sweet & Low. I’m always running out of one of the three, and if I’m missing one, the other two items become useless to me. So here it is, nearly 1:30 A.M., and I’m actually warming a cup of coffee in the microwave. I have so many other projects going on besides cookies, but I sure would love to have a photo cookie order right now of between 500-1000 cookies. That would just be awesome! All these big movie studios having premiers could be having my fine cookies at their events. Operators are standing by…
I’m going to a Sunday BBQ out in the Inland Empire region of greater Los Angeles on Sunday. Just because I make cookies for a living, however, doesn’t mean it is presumed I will bring cookies nor that I actually want to make them for the get together. In this case, however, I probably will make some simple little cookies to have with coffee/tea or just a little desert.
It reminds me of a pianist I once knew who played twice daily for a melodrama theater during the summer months. Because I have a passion for piano but am no pianist, I asked him if he practiced during the day when not in the theater, and he said he never played outside of the theater, never played for pleasure for himself or for a non-paying audience. I understand that now.
I don’t bake for pleasure for myself unless it’s a gift for someone. Otherwise I simply don’t bake cookies. It’s nice to have the calm between the storms.
